Commissioning a custom pet portrait is really a very simple process.

I use a photo reference provided by you to look at as I create your custom pet portrait. So the very first step is to locate or take some nice photos of your pet. The best thing to do is to take a lot of photos of your pet in different lighting and in different situations. The better the photograph, the better the painting. Digital photos are preferred, but I can also work from snapshots. The quality of the photograph is important to be able to see the fine details, such as your pets eyes, so that I can create a really great portrait for you. Once you have several good images, please email them to me: Kellie@StrawDogArt.com. I’ll let you know right away whether the photos will make a good reference for a painting and we will discuss your budget and background ideas.

To reserve a space on my calendar, I require 1/2 payment. When your pet is next on the docket, I’ll contact you for final payment. I prefer PayPal payments, where you can use your credit card or PayPal balance. If you prefer to pay by check, I request that it be sent to my bank in California since I am currently residing in Baja California, Mexico.

I have many happy customers (and no unhappy ones!) So I absolutely guarantee that you will love your portrait. I very occasionally have to make changes to a portrait to make it ‘just right.’ I don’t mind doing this – it’s your pet and your painting, so it is important to me that you love it. Once I complete your painting, I will take a high resolution image of the finished painting and email it to you for your approval. If you see anything at all that is not correct with your pet, or something that you just don’t like, such as the background color, this is your opportunity to make sure I ‘get it right!” Please let me know of any changes you would like to see. Once you love your portrait, I will let you know how much the shipping costs are, which you can pay via PayPal (if you haven’t already included them in your final payment) and I’ll ship your painting as soon as possible.
